av3 Head_shot_croppedPresident and CEO of El Mundo Newspaper, the largest Latino newspaper in New England which recently celebrated its 42nd anniversary. He is also the 100% shareholder of Caribe Communications and Publications, the parent company of El Mundo Boston.

From 1992 to 2001, Alberto hosted and co-produced one of Spanish radio’s most popular drive time radio shows – La Hora del Café, introducing the open-mike format in Spanish-language radio. 

 In 1995, Alberto partnered with the Boston Red Sox in creating The Latino Youth Recognition days at Fenway Park. This nationally recognized community outreach program includes a pre-game ceremony with Red Sox players before a game honoring top Latino academic achievers. To date, the program has honored over 1,500 Latino public school students for their academic achievements and has given away over 15,000 Red Sox tickets to community. It is now in it’s 20 season.logos

Mr. Vasallo is also the creator of The annual “El Mundo Latino Family Festival” at Fenway Park, which is the largest cultural event of it’s kind in New England. It is the only event of it’s kind in the nation, bringing together 10,000 Latinos of all ages in a unique experience that includes a health and fitness festival with over 50 exhibitors, a full fledged concert and a VIP reception.

In 2004 he initiated the El Mundo Latino Career Expo series, featuring top recruiters and qualified candidates. Each year the Latino Career Expo yields hundreds of career and employment opportunities for the community.

In 2010 Alberto launched the annual Hispanic Heritage Breakfast series which have become one of the most important events for Corporate Boston to come together with over 400 of the area’s top Latino professionals. The event is modeled after the St. Patrick’s Days breakfast with a roast-format featuring the area’s most visible leaders in politics, business and media.

Mr. Vasallo is one of the longest running Latino television personalities and producers in the Boston market. Beginning in 1995, he has worked for two television shows on Channel 7, NBC (Revista Hispana and Urban Update) as both producer and host.

He has received numerous awards for his work in the community as well as for his groundbreaking events and exclusive and in-depth coverage of the Latino community through his various media platforms. He, along with his family, is considered to be the face of the Latino community in many quarters.

His background in finance and business has helped him monetize these unique platforms by converting the company into experts in multi-cultural marketing. Each of the platforms he created were constructed to attract corporate partners and sponsors interested in engaging the Latino market. This has led El Mundo Boston to have the largest array of corporate and community advertisers in the market.

Alberto has managed day to day operations of the family-run business for over 25 years and has accumulated expertise in creating, marketing and ultimately selling content that is attractive for marketers. He has also proven to be adept at managing and growing a small business with very little capital resources.

Alberto is a graduate of Boston College High School and Boston College. His father Alberto Vasallo, Jr. was born in Havana, Cuba. and his mother, Flor, is a native of Ecuador, South America.
