Celtics GM, Danny Ainge, continues fanning the flames of the rumor mill. Speaking on the Toucher and Rich Show this morning on 98.5 FM, Ainge said he was willing to trade for a star caliber player on the last year of his contract, even without the guarantee of him resigning.
Rumors in recent days from NBA sources say Minnesota Timberwolves Star Kevin Love has informed team ownership that he plans to opt out of his contract at the conclusion of the 2015 season and pursue free agency. The Timberwolves are said to be open to dealing Love for the right package in return.
Could Ainge’s comments have been in direct reference to Kevin Love? Given the Celtics drop to the 6th spot in the 2014 NBA Draft, many believe that is exactly what he meant.
The acquisition of Love would continue a long history of Boston pro sports teams poaching star talent from Minnesota. In previous years, the Red Sox acquired Big Papi, the Patriots acquired Randy Moss and of course the Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett back in 2007.
What are your thoughts on the Celtics potential acquisition of Kevin Love?
