In Chelsea: “I love these pastelitos. I couldn’t eat enough growing up” expressed Gomez, son of Colombian immigrants , when he visited “Compare Market” in Chelsea.

June 1, 2013: “In Spanish or in English? I can do either,” answered Republican U.S. Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez, the son of Colombian immigrants, when asked to be interviewed by Latino news man Rene Funes of Noticias SPC on 1600am radio. Gomez visited “Compare Market” in Chelsea for a retail stop in the community. “Compare” is owned by first generation Latinos Alberto and Betty Calvo.

Gomez was well received by those in the store and by those who passed by as he greeted and spoke to everyone in perfect Spanish.

Meet and Greet: “I was very impressed with Gabriel Gomez. I think the more Latinos he can speak to directly the more he can win over”, said Albie Alvarez-Cote.
