Boston – Another successful Milagros Para Niños Gala took place this past Saturday, September 17th at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. At the gala, 600 Latino business leaders and Boston Children’s Hospital supporters came together to celebrate the work this organization has done for the Latino community.
In its first six years, this event contributed more than $3.3 million to four Boston Children’s Hospital departments that have a tremendous impact on the Latino community: Martha Eliot Health Center, International Health Services Center, Boston Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center and the Hale Center for Families.
Honored guests this year included Governor Charlie Baker and Nicole Kouri, a brave 14-year-old based in Miami who has been treated at Boston Children’s Hospital many times over the course of her young life. Nicole was born with pulmonary hypertension and was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy right before her 14th birthday. She moved from Miami to Boston temporarily to receive a heart and lung transplant. She is now a healthy teen in her home state of Florida thanks to the team at Boston Children’s Hospital and the support of Milagros para Niños.
The event also served to honor Joanna E. Cox, MD, Associate Chief of General Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital with the “Milagros Para Niños Award”.
