El Mundo Boston made an announcement at the Latino Professional Mixer on March 31st that will prominently introduce a Latino presence into Boston’s millennial scene.
The publication announced it will be launching the El Mundo Boston Latino 30 under 30 presented by Hennessy later in 2016.
“Though it may come as a surprise to some, there is no better city in the country to talk about young Latinos than Boston,” said Elvis Jocol Lara, Director of Digital Media at El Mundo Boston, during the announcement. “This city is home to the best and brightest young Latino talent from across the country and world.”
With a Latino population that is quickly climbing the ranks of largest in the country, Boston is gaining national attention for the accomplishments of Latinos with ties to the city
“What truly sets Boston apart is the depth of homegrown Latino talent and that which hails from across the country and Latin America. Names like Juan Luis Guerra, Junot Diaz, Julian Castro and David Ortiz are just a small sample of Latinos of national and international influence who have called Boston home,” said Jocol Lara.
In a city where young talent is put on a pedestal and recognized throughout the year, Latino names and faces are largely unrepresented. That will no longer be the case.
The Latino 30 under 30 will be the first initiative to shine a light on the young Latino talent in the city, honoring individuals making an impact on the Massachusetts Latino community in a variety of fields including Business, Sports, Community Service and Fine Arts
Starting in August, El Mundo, along with Hennessy and key leaders in the community will solicit nominees, select winners and engage readers with an in depth look at these young leaders in a bilingual, multimedia platform incorporating El Mundo Newspaper and its online properties like never before.
The initiative will culminate with an upscale celebration at Royale on November 12th.
The program is being presented from start to finish by Hennessy VSOP Privilege.
