The Field & Organizing Division is seeking qualified applicant for the position of Bargaining Campaign & Field Specialist who is responsible for helping to build strong locals and a strong union by supporting local leaders and rank and file members in all aspects of internal organizing, bargaining, contract enforcement and representation, and implementation of local, regional, and statewide campaigns that connect members to the life of the union.

The primary focus will be building local capacity by engaging members in the life of the union including:

  • Identify points of leverage for bargaining through research, data, and power analysis.
  • Provide research and strategic support to locals, regional networks, college/university coalitions, and the statewide union for bargaining campaigns, including multiple forms of democratized bargaining (open, coordinated, coalition, bargaining for the common good), that achieve bargaining standards and build rank and file power
  • Work with Regional Organizers, Field Rep-Organizers, and regional networks to develop regional bargaining standards, strategies and campaign plans and support the activities of the regional networks
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of an easily searchable database of existing and model contract language
  • Research and develop model contract language
  • Develop popular education training, in conjunction with TPL and other field staff, to support strategic bargaining and contract enforcement strategies, including bargaining for the common good, open bargaining, and contract action teams

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience utilizing data for targeting and developing strategic campaigns
  • Ability to analyze budgets, manipulate data and produce reports and presentations
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters/advanced college level classes preferred
  • Experience and familiarity with multiple forms of democratized bargaining including open, coordinated, and coalition bargaining and bargaining for the common good
  • Understanding of key concepts and commitment to dismantling systems of oppression that create inequity by race, class, and gender
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, as well as Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and long hours when needed
