  • Governor Healey, Mayor Wu and Lt. Governor to present at this year’s annual El Mundo Boston celebration.

The 2025 annual El Mundo Boston Hispanic Heritage Breakfast will once again feature a head table of powerful leaders from across the Commonwealth, as more than 500 will gather to celebrate the contributions and achievements of the Latino community.

Governor Maura Healey, Lt Governor Kim Driscoll and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu are among the presenters during the light-hearted roast portion of the annual event.

This year’s celebration will take place on Friday, October 3rd, 2025 (7:00 am – 9:30 am) at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and promises to, once again, be the “must attend» Hispanic Heritage Month event of the season.

The theme this year is Education – always a priority issue for Latino families across the Commonwealth and the festivities will emphasize the importance of preparing the next generation of Americans for leadership. Latinos make up the largest group of students in many public-school districts across Massachusetts.

Latinos for Education, the first Latino-founded national organization creating leadership pathways for Latinos in education, will receive the 2025 Community Partner Award for its outstanding work in Massachusetts and beyond. The organization is led by Cuban American Amanda Fernandez and is based out of Boston.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to educator Marilu Alvarado-Hernandez, for her decades of service and commitment to educational excellence. Her career spans 45 years as a teacher, curriculum specialist, debate coach, scholastic travel organizer and mentor to educators-in-training. Throughout her journey, thousands of students have benefited from her passion, conviction and energy.

The 2025 Corporate Partner of the Year award will go to Amazon and will be received by Jerome Smith, Head of Amazon’s Community Engagement in New England. Amazon has been a major supporter of Latino initiatives that impact the community through their presenting sponsorship of Latino Youth Recognition Days at Fenway Park, the Latino Family Festival, the Latino Small Business Summits, the Latino Career Expo and the Hispanic Heritage Breakfast.

The event will also be attended by Mayors of several cities including Lawrence, Lynn, Revere, Everett and Gardener. State and city officials from across the Commonwealth have confirmed their attendance. Close to 600 are expected to attend as it is the 6th consecutive year the event has sold out.

The event is open to all media.
