Lisbeth Perdomo is no stranger to entrepreneurship. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, she previously offered services such as vocal lessons and music therapy, among others, at her music studio. After seven years of managing her business and navigating the challenges of postpartum following the birth of her second child, she found herself on an unexpected path—one that would later transform her career.
In 2019, she founded Que Mami, a venture built without investors but with ambition and determination. It all began at a women’s event she hosted. Amid the pandemic, she developed digital skills to leverage social media, organically building a versatile audience. Though she has faced challenges in attracting clients, achieving financial stability, and differentiating herself from competitors, she has successfully navigated these hurdles. Now, with an anticipated brand event debut in Lawrence that showcases entrepreneurship, we’ll explore the importance of innovation in rebranding and why it’s never too late to reinvent your business.
Revitalizing our vision can spark inspiration and bring unique ideas to fruition. As Lisbeth watched the world shift toward technological advancements and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives in major companies, she also witnessed her daughter stepping into a new chapter—applying for high school and making life decisions in uncertain times. The looming thought of not fighting back against bigotry, opposition, and division weighed on her. She knew that evolving Que Mami’s structure and marketing approach, while balancing motherhood and a partnership, was crucial. As an Afro-Latina woman striving to be a voice and guerrera for other women, she understood that powerful changes had to be initiated.
According to her, a strategic plan is the first step. For a new startup, researching extensively and becoming an expert in your field is essential. Whether through online resources or networking, there is always something valuable to learn. A professional mentor, for example, can change the trajectory of a business. Being receptive to help is necessary because sometimes, you can’t do it all alone. Multitasking can be overwhelming, and having support can ease the burden.
Que Mami has already made an impact, often recognized as a safe and authentic space.
“I want women of color to feel that they are a part of the brand. I want them to feel like I’m on their team, that they are genuinely supported, and that I’m here to provide the best experiences for them. I stand for sisterhood.” – Que Mami
When there is a strong vision, a positive impact is made through partnerships within the community. As 2024 came to a close, Lisbeth knew she had to pass the torch and highlight the importance of sharing resources. Now, in 2025, it is the perfect time for women from all backgrounds to come together, share their dreams, insights, and challenges, and uplift one another. Women navigating entrepreneurship while also being mothers, providers, and full-time workers take on one of the hardest jobs in the world.
Lisbeth wants to ensure that every woman in the room has a voice, feels inspired, and gains the knowledge needed to build the foundation they aspire to create. Because to her, it’s not just about starting a business—it’s about women believing in themselves and envisioning their future with purpose. Having faith and doing the internal work to achieve better results will ultimately lead them to the recognition and success they deserve.
