The Heart of New England

Join us in the Mugar Omni Theater for The Heart of New England, a one-of-a-kind giant-screen film production from the Museum of Science, Boston, and embark on an immersive journey across this storied part of the world.

New England is one of the world’s most iconic regions, known for its seasons and landscapes, traditions and innovations. It is also a ruggedly beautiful place born of resilience and hope.

Narrated by native New Englanders Uzo Aduba and Mindy Kaling, the film showcases the region’s trademark tenacity and hope through snapshots and perspectives of many of those who call it home: storytellers, conservationists, athletes, students, scientists, engineers, and others.

Discover what draws life here from nearly everywhere and why this tiny corner of the country has an outsized global impact that thrives through collaboration and diversity of thought. Come face-to-face with some of the most remarkable creatures inhabiting the Gulf of Maine and see how wild landscapes and fragile ecosystems – once on the brink – have the power to heal. Get a behind-the-scenes peek into what’s been called “the most innovative square mile in the country.” You’ll also get to know several runners in the Boston Marathon: a Panawahpskek mother, daughter, and grandfather telling a story of Indigenous resilience, and a dancer determined to give back to the city that saved her life. Through it all, you’ll experience The Heart of New England as only possible on the IMAX® Dome screen!
